Baby Rushing's Nursery Reveal!

For the past few months I have been working extremely hard to decorate the nursery the exact way I wanted it. It wasn't an easy task but it was fun none the less! I had the best time putting everything together and collecting little pieces that fit my unique style. The one thing I disliked about putting a whole nursery together was how long of a process it was. Most of everything in her room was ordered online so having to wait for items to come into the mail was a little hard but I'm glad I really took my time. Since day one I knew exactly what color scheme I was going to go with I had everything picked out in my head and all I needed was to hop online and start shopping.

33 Weeks and two days closer

These past eight months have been so wild but also so amazing. I am so close to the end of this pregnancy & apart of me is sad that soon ill no longer feel those little baby kicks and hiccups that sometimes keep me up at night. But then I remember that in less than seven weeks, my daughter will be in my arms, finally out into the world bringing happiness, joy & love to our family.
I feel so blessed to be having a baby with my best friend and love of my life & I can't wait for our little girl to one day know just how much her mother and father love each other. She is already a huge part of our lives and I can no longer imagine my life without her.

Our Babymoon Adventure

This past week, my love & I packed our bags and headed on our baby moon adventure. Our last trip together before our daughter arrives in early January. Early in the morning we headed out to Santa Cruz! The original surf town. This was our second time visiting this beautiful beach town together but my 3rd time since 2016. I originally came to Santa Cruz because of my love for the film The Lost Boys. I wanted to see where it was all filmed and where certain scenes took place. I wasn't disappointed.

Traditions I want to keep with my daughter

My childhood when I was younger was kind of all over the place. For as long as I could remember, it was just my mom and I until I was six years old. My biological father was never really in the picture. He would call me from time to time and write me letters and whenever I got one, my mom would read them to me but he never went to a birthday party of mine, never put food on my plate, never provided for me. It was my mother who did everything for me. She was the light of my life and as much as I wanted a relationship with my dad, he was constantly focusing on himself and was always in and out of trouble.

As I got older, my mom and I started going on trips 1-2 times a year up north and stayed right on the California coastline in a hotel across the street from the ocean. We would stay two nights and spend the weekend going down main street to do some antique shopping. It was a lot of fun and it was something I looked forward to doing every year.Another tradition of ours was going to Disneyland once a year around Halloween time. My mom would order a coffee the second she got there from one of the stands and always bought a Halloween mug to go along with it. She collected them every time we went.

Baby Rushing 22 weeks!

Hey guys! I know its been awhile since I last posted but I took a month off to focus on myself and my new marriage. August was a rough month for me but I am back now after a much needed break and look forward to posting every week again. I hope everyone is doing good.

A few things happened since I last update. I got married to the love of my life and father of my child, we had a gender reveal party with our close friends/family and we even started organizing the nursery (which still needs to be painted and is nowhere near finished.)

Cable Airport

At the end of last year, I was invited out to Cable Airport by a kind pilot friend of mine to check out all of the neat vintage aircraft they had out on display. I instantly said yes and two months later, I was on my way out there with my camera and my friend Spencer. We had the best time getting to learn about aircraft and actually getting to see it all in action. It was a very neat experience and hopefully one day I will get to go for a little plane ride which would be so much fun. Im really happy with the way these photos turned out. This was just a neat little project for me and Im really happy I got to do this so a special thanks to my friend Robert for inviting me to see these beauties, I truly had the best time!

14 Weeks 3 days- A letter to my love bug

Here we are at fourteen weeks and three days. I still have no sickness whatsoever and am feeling pretty great during the day which is nice. I love hearing your little heartbeat whenever I had a long day, it comforts me knowing you are safe inside of me, growing big and strong each and everyday. I am already so in love with you. You have given me so much joy already and I haven't met you yet. We still haven't found out what you are but mommy took a blood test to find out sooner than 20 weeks. My test results will be coming soon and your grandmother has full control of that and will be calling a cake maker to make a special cake for your gender reveal party coming up soon. We are all so excited to know exactly what you'll be. Boy or girl, your father and I will love you endlessly.

A New Chapter...

Yesterday, Denon and I decided to go to Ventura, Ca for the day just to hang out and dip our toes in the sand. We had a nice little get away, it was a lot of fun and very romantic. Lately I have been going crazy at work just wanting to get out of my city and explore. So that's what we did and I'm glad we set aside time to do so.

For weeks I have been dying to tell you guys the amazing news I have to share!

Lazy sunday

Yesterday was the laziest Sunday I think I have had in a long time. Denon and I usually spend every sunday together at the dog park with our two pups but yesterday, we decided to hang out at home and watch some classic TV shows from the 50's. We fell asleep really early, just after 6 which is huge for us (We're night owls). Lately things have been pretty calm at home. There isn't much to complain about!

A little update on where I have been....

Hey hello everyone!
Vanessa here.

First off, I apologize greatly for my absents. I have been going crazy trying to figure some things out in my life (good things of course!)

For Love of the Sea

Growing up, my mom would take me on these amazing little vacations only a few hours away from home, and we would stay in little beach towns enjoying the salty air. Every trip we went on, I had to bring my giant camera with me to get all the right shots.

Open & Honest

Whenever I am feeling alone, stressed or frustrated, I try my best to get out of the house go to local coffee shops close to home and grab a little "pick me up". I like to just sit and read my latest obsession and enjoy complete strangers company. I usually stay anywhere from an hour to three hours. Its a way for me to relax and take a deep breath, slowly but surely letting go of frustration or whatever seems to be bothering me that day.

Other days I go to coffee shops just to have a chat with friends or to work on my blog (like I am casually doing now) and enjoy a nice hot brew of coffee. I also really love traveling to different cities and finding the cutest little treasures!

New Read: Unfiltered By Lily Collins

Awhile ago I took my usual trip to the local book store and came across Lily Collins memoir that she wrote based on her past experiences and hardships. I  immediately bought it and never looked back. Though I am not yet done with the book, I have read a few chapters and I love it so far. She is so open and honest with all of the struggles, abusive past relationships, bullying and bad experiences she has gone through. She expresses ways on how to cope with your emotions and how to move forward.

Charles Hollis Jones Art Display at MOAH Museum

This year for easter, Denon and I had a nice little day with his parents. We grabbed breakfast at a local diner in our city, then headed over to the Blvd. to see the new art display by Charles Hollis Jones.

Antelope Valley Poppy Fields

Last sunday, after weeks of begging him to go with me, Denon and I took a little ten minute trip over to the poppy fields! I was so excited to get out of the car and run around in the fields like a careless child. It was such a beautiful day too with hardly any wind. We climbed up the hills and snapped a few sweet pictures that I will forever love and definitely need to frame!

Hidden Beauty

Today Denon & I visited the Indian Museum, a place I have been dying to visit for awhile now. This amazing museum is not at all far from our house so I don't see why it took us so long to finally get here. But anyway, it was a really unique and beautiful place to visit. There is so much to see and a lot to learn about. I myself am Cherokee, Navajo and apache indian so it was really nice to see all the different tribes and how they lived, hunted, and gathered different resources to live. If you live near Lake Los Angeles, I definitely recommend visiting this place!

The Music Room

Today has been a great day so far if I must say so myself! Ollie and I went upstairs to my music room and just danced around while listening to some of my music collection. Music has always been a very important part of me and who I am as a person. I began playing the guitar when I was eight years old and never stopped. My first guitar was given to me by my grandparents. It was a cheap electric guitar that I later sold because I didn't have an amp at the time and I wanted an acoustic electric. I ended up

Cottage Dwellers

Who doesn't love a nice little comfy cottage? I miss this place so much! I am currently planning a trip up north to Napa Valley for my 21st birthday with my love. I really want to go wine tasting in good o'l wine country. Im so excited to turn 21 and be able to legally drink. I'm not huge into drinking but I have always been interested in trying out different wine. I am on the hunt for the perfect place to stay while we visit Napa Valley. I have a few ideas in mind. Now its time to save up enough money so that we can have a good time. I plan on taking many photos. I am beyond excited to go and have a nice time with my love.

Desert Babe Photoshoot

Last fall I did a really neat photoshoot with a good friend of mine (favorite shoot I've done thus far). I have been a photographer for six years and counting. I love taking photos of people and seeing their reaction afterwards once they see how great the photos turned out. I would absolutely love to be a photographer full time and work with models, makeup brands, fashion brands, designers, etc. That is definitely a goal of mine. For now I continue to do photography on the side and love it with every ounce of my being. If you live in the Southern California area and would like to book a shoot with me or know someone that would like to book a photoshoot, email me at for more info! I'd love to bring your memories to life! Continue onto this post for more pictures from our first shoot together.

On the Blvd. With Ollie!

Hi guys! So the other day I went to the Blvd in my hometown with my dog Ollie just to look around and see what was new. I love exploring during the day, and lately because of what happened with my dog Comet, I haven't been able to go most places without my little emotional support buddy Ollie. He loves long car rides and whenever I try to leave the house without him, he gives me that face (you know which one I'm talking about) and it gets me every time! I don't have the heart to leave him right now so he's been having the best time following me around everywhere. I remember this day very vividly. I got ready and wanted to go out to take photos but I wasn't sure where to go. I decided on the

Tea Time!

Lately I have been drinking a lot more tea these days. Don't get me wrong, I definitely get a craving for soda here and there but I usually put that craving out by pouring hot tea over a cup of ice and adding a bit of raw sugar just to sweeten things up a bit. I also invested in some amazing loose tea leaves from tattle tea, I bought fifty dollars worth of this yummy tea (in six different flavors) and let me tell you, it was so worth every penny. I love it! I also use a french coffee press from bodum to brew whichever flavor/type I decide to make that day. My favorite tea so far is the Black Peach tea

I love you Comet

These last couple of days have been extremely difficult for me. My gorgeous, loving, most kind hearted baby boy passed away Monday night at 6:15pm. As many people know, Golden Retrievers are known to get into just about everything and well, Comet was no exception. First thing monday morning, I took Comet into the vet to get x-rays to see what was wrong with him because he wasn't eating nor was he interested in food at all which was a sign for me to take him ASAP because if you know Comet, you know he loved food, so not eating was not like him and it meant something was wrong. They took the x-rays and found that he had eaten part of a towel and they said they could remove it surgically and get him fixed up and that he would be okay. Before they would even touch him, they needed a deposit down of two thousand dollars. I didn't think twice, I put all of my emergency money on Comet and got him a spot for surgery that day at 3pm. I signed paper work

Big Sur

January 3rd, 2016
was the first time I ever got to explore highway 1.
I was so amazed with the entire view that I could not believe how beautiful the earth really was
and how lucky I am to be able to call California my home.
I have lived in Southern California surrounded by crowded cities for my entire life so I never truly understood just how beautiful this place really was until I actually got to see it from this point of view. I stopped a million times during my drive up the coast
and every photo was well worth it. It was such a beautiful day, very cold and cloudy
with a bit of wind (which is never my favorite but what can you do).
Someday I would love to do a photo shoot with someone out here, I think that would be absolutely
amazing. The views are just incredible.
We stopped in Big Sur along the way which was a lot of fun and of course
I went into a couple of the shops that had handmade goods that were created by
some of the locals. They had a bit of everything. Glassware, pottery, jewelry, and art. It was really neat to see how close the community was. I loved the feeling I got from that small, beautiful and creative town. One of these days I must go on a little vacation with my love here
just to unwind together and take in the salty air.

Population 18

So today I dug through the archives only to find these old photos of a small town cafe that my mom and I loved going to whenever we visited Northern California. These pictures aren't the best only because at the time I didn't have the nice camera that I do now, so these were all taken with an Iphone4. Yes, it was that long ago.

Left My Heart In Santa Cruz

Early Last year I went on a little three day trip to Santa Cruz, one of my all time favorite cities ever for multiple reasons, and during my visit I fell madly in love with the scenery.
This city had everything. The beach, cozy weather, beautiful houses, nice big boardwalk,
The woods, and amazing restaurants! It was truly the best time I had in awhile. The people out there were so kind and friendly,
There was always something to do and no matter where I went alone, I felt right at home.

Lets be friends! (Get to know me)
